For information on additional upcoming meetings please continue to check this website or leave your email address on our email form page and we will contact you when the next meeting is scheduled.Speakers at the Greenville, SC meeting included:Ê Paul DeMarco, MDDr. DeMarco was raised in Charleston, SC.Ê He attended college at University of Virginia, medical school at USC School of Medicine in Columbia, and returned to UVa to complete a residency and chief residency in general internal medicine.Ê He became interested in the uninsured as a resident and, along with many others, helped start the Charlottesville Free Clinic.Ê He served as the first president of the clinicÕs board from 1992-3. He moved to Marion, SC in 1993 and practiced for 14 years in a group practice that is owned by the Marion Regional Healthcare System.Ê His practice has deepened his concern for the uninsured and his feeling of urgency about the need for an overhaul of the American health care system. In August 2007, he moved from private practice to academics.Ê He accepted a position as the first Director of Rural Community Health Programs at Francis Marion University in Florence.Ê He also travels regularly during the school year to Columbia to teach students and residents at USC School of Medicine. He has been involved in the single payer movement since 2006 and is one of the founders of South Carolinians for Universal Health Care. Dr. DeMarco is a member of the Marion District One School Board and has served on the board of Marion County Habitat for Humanity since 1994.Ê He is married, has two children, and resides in Marion. Lynn BaileyLynn Bailey is a consulting healthcare economist with over 25 years of experience, specializing in strategic management and healthcare planning. ÊShe is the principal/owner of Lynn Bailey Associates in Columbia, SC. ÊShe has worked on healthcare policy issues for gubernatorial and state senate candidates. She regularly discusses healthcare issues on U Need 2 Know on the Air America radio station in Columbia, SC. ÊShe has been uninsured for 5 years. ÊMs. Bailey has a Masters degree in Economics with additional graduate hours in health care finance from the University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business. ÊShe also attended the Yale School of Organization and Management's executive program in health care management.Ê
